Why I chose GM Smirnov as my mentor

My learning style is 10% auditory, 30% visual and 60% tactile. I'm a "hands-on" learner, I need to do a lot of exercises to remember anything. I'm also, to a lesser extend, a visual learner, I memorize well with videos.

GM Smirnov's courses are divided in 2 parts: the first one is the video lessons and the second one is the practical part which contains exercises. So his lectures fit my learning style.

Moreover, I like the fact that his lessons are full of examples that illustrate the points he makes. The practical part is really the best part of the course: it contains a LOT of exercises. It helps you apply the principles taught in the video lessons in real games, because if you perform all the tasks, the techniques become nearly automatic. For example, in the course The Grandmaster's Secrets, there are 100 positions to solve and 100 games to analyze. The answers of the practical part are filled with great explanations that reinforce the lessons.

The other reason I chose to study GM Igor Smirnov's material is that his free courses helped me break my plateau and help me gain 83 (FIDE) Elo points in less than a year!
